หากย้อนไปเมื่อสักประมาณ 3-4 ปี ก่อน คำว่า “นิยายวาย” เป็นคำที่ผู้อ่านเฉพาะกลุ่มเท่านั้นที่สนใจอ่านและค้นหาอ่าน แต่ในตอนนี้ในโลกของนักอ่านหนังสือแทบจะไม่มีใครไม่รู้จัก “นิยายวาย”
ปัจจุบัน “นิยายวาย” ได้รบความนิยมเป็นอย่างมากในไทย มีสำนักพิมพ์ใหญ่ๆ หลายแห่งถึงกับเปิดสำพักพิมพ์ย่อยๆออกมาเพื่อผลิต “นิยายวาย” โดยเฉพาะ ชั้นวางหนังสือในร้านขายหนังสือใหญ่จะมี “นิยายวาย” มาวางขายกันอย่างคึกคัก ทั้งที่ไม่มีกี่ปีก่อน “นิยายวาย” เป็นหนังสือประเภทที่บางร้านมีนโยบาย ห้ามวางขายแบบออกหน้าออกตาด้วยซ้ำ
